Hello
Our team of 17 volunteers from Temasek Hall, led by Najib Indra, are involved in an overseas community involvement project aka OCIP to Yogyakarta, Indonesia in May 2015. Many of you may be wondering “What makes Temasek Hall’s OCIP different from other OCIP?”
The answer lies with the theme of our project which is environmental conservation. Our project is focused on helping the community living in the proximity of Gajah Wong which is one of the largest river than runs through Yogayakarta. Large portions of the river is heavily polluted as the villagers dispose of their trash onto the river banks and into the river.
As such, we would like to spread the idea of being responsible for one’s own environment. Ultimately, the biggest difference in our project from others would be the sustainability of our community work. The nature of our work allows easy follow up from the villagers residing along the river, therefore inducing a sense of ownership within their community.
So do help by contributing to our cause. A single dollar goes a long way.
